Don’t Beat Yourself Up

Posted: March 4, 2011 in Uncategorized

This blog isn’t just for pushing yourself further and getting YOUR life the way you want it, it’s also about accepting yourself as you are.  I see too many people saying “I’d be hot, only if….” or  “I’d be smart, only if…”
You gotta love yourself and a large part of that is not harping on (real or imaginary)slights.  You have to forgive yourself for the things you aren’t proud of, you need to accept your present self and love and cherish that person.  Don’t beat yourself up for the past, don’t fear your future.  Your past has made you who you are.  Everyone has had some mistake that they aren’t too proud of, everyone has that part of their history that could be buried in the dust of the desert and that’d be just great.  Don’t bury away that lesson.  You may not be proud of who wyou were right then, but there’s no point to beat yourself up over the past.  It’s a waste of energy, time and effort.  There is a mantra I live by; I encourage you to pick up some variation of it and run with it: “The past is passed; the future’s yet to come; you can’t live your life Comfortably Numb.”
To take those risks and jump into the unknown, you need to know how you got to where you are, and acknowledge what made you who you are.  Your past experiences and you lessons you’ve already learned are your bungee cord or your parachute.  Without those, you’ll make a great approximation of a bug on a windshield in your jump into your dreams.  Remember the past, but don’t beat yourself up for it.

This is exactly what I needed to read today.

I’d be smarter if I remembered how smart I am and didn’t forget to use it! Does that count? :p
